Les DeMerle Interview

 

Legendary jazz, swing and big band drummer Les DeMerle joins Dan Shinder to talk about his elustrious career, and drumming! If you are not familiar with Les, check out what he’s been up to the last few decades:
Les was recently featured on the Modern Drummer Festival in Tribute To Neil Peart.
Replaced Buddy Rich in the Harry James Orch 1970 to 1983.
Grammy award Big Band recoding with Harry James The King James Version.
Writer of Jazz Rock Fusion Vol 1 and Vol 2 published by Hal Lenard.
Artistic Director and Founder of the Amelia Island Jazz Festival, a not for profit org that distributes annual scholarships to High School musicians.
Writer of Jazz Rock Fusion Vol 1 and Vol 2 published by Hal Lenard.
20 leader recordings, newest release in 2021 Hot Night In Venice featuring the Dynamic Les DeMerle Jazz Quartet with vocalist Bonnie Eisele recorded live at the Venice Jazz Club in Italy.
Les spent the 70s, 80s and 90s doing up to 50 Clinics a year all over the world.
Currently teaching live and zoom sessions from the Les DeMerle Drum Studio on Amelia Island, Florida.
Currently scheduled to resume performing when Covid is under control with RCCL where his band headlines on the worlds largest cruise ship, The Harmony Of The Seas in the Jazz On 4 Club.
