Joe Mazza of Gretsch Drums filled us in on what’s new for 2014 at Winter NAMM. Joe shows off triple flange hoops, which he says really open up the sound; the interior tint to shells which give a new characteristic; new finishes, new series and new species of woods they are using.
They have a 3-ply 40’s style retro kit in process and a completely different bearing edge that has not been used in decades. They also have a new “Relic” finish: Brand new drums that look 50 years old.
